Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a 2022 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics series and featuring the character Doctor Strange. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It is directed by Sam Raimi and written by Michael Waldron, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, alongside Elizabeth Olsen,
Scott Derrickson, director and co-writer of Doctor Strange, had been planning a sequel by October 2016. He signed on to return as director in December 2018, when Cumberbatch’s return was confirmed. The film’s title was announced in July 2019, along with Olsen’s involvement, and Jade Harry Bartlett was hired as screenwriter in October of the same year. Derrickson stepped down as director in January 2020, citing creative differences.

Multiverse of Madness is like an LSD trip, full of unexpected twists and shocks and horrors. The story doesn’t follow the characters and will leave you with mixed emotions of confusion, excitement, surprise and sadness, but trust me, it’s worth watching. This movie is dark, trippy, surprising and confusing. It would be too simple to call this the best Marvel movie, but it is definitely the most unique and different.
