Good Luck Jerry is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language black-on-black crime comedy film directed by debutant Siddharth Sen, written by Pankaj Matta, and produced by Subhaskaran Alliraja, Aanand L. Rai, and Mahavir Jain of Mahavir Jain Films. It is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila, written and directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar, and stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role, alongside Deepak Dobriyal, Meeta Vashisht, Neeraj Sood, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sushant Singh, and debutant Samta Sudiksha in key roles.The film premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on 29 July 2022. Jaya “Jerry” Kumari lives with her mother Sharbati and sister Chhaya “Cherry” Kumari in a small town in Punjab. She is a masseuse in a salon. Anil, a neighbor who secretly has feelings for Sharbati, always supports her and acts as a father figure to Jerry and Cherry. Though Sharbati is unhappy with Jerry’s job, Jerry is determined to stay in it as he can earn more money and live a comfortable life there. A local goon, Link, pursues Jerry despite his lack of interest in him. Tenzing is Jerry’s girlfriend and helps his mother with her business.

Sharbati is diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer and needs 25 million rupees for treatment and chemotherapy. One day, Jerry accidentally helps the police catch a drug lord. Inspector Lal thanks her for helping in the arrest. Smuggler boss Timmy and his henchmen Mohinder “Dadu” Singh Chandar and Jigar confront Jerry outside the market. Timmy tells Jerry to get a stash of drugs from the market. Cherry is taken hostage by Jigger, but a frightened Jerry escapes the police and retrieves the drugs. On the way home, Jerry realizes that Cherry has stolen a smuggler’s wallet and money.

Good Luck Jerry Movie Review

Good Luck Jerry has all the typical hallmarks of a Hindi film, becoming overly sentimental in the odd place. But for the most part, the film deals with the subject matter in a light-hearted way and is a fun, family-friendly film.

As much as Janhvi is in the film, the story benefits greatly from an absolutely outstanding supporting cast. The film is filled with eccentric men played by character actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Saurabh Sachdeva and Neeraj Sood. Dobriyal is barely recognizable as the local baddie who falls head over heels in love with Jerry and can’t wait to marry him. He is the MVP of the film, playing a character he has never played before. Sushant Singh is fun playing a comical villain who fits perfectly into the world of the film.

But the life of a criminal is never easy, and just when Jerry is thinking of getting out of the business, drug lord Darla (Sushant Singh) asks her for one last job: to smuggle a truckload of cocaine, not the usual few hundred grams. If she fails, Darla will kill her and her family.
