Hai Nanna is a 2023 Telugu-language Indian romantic drama film directed by Shoryukh and produced by Villa Entertainment. It stars Nani and Mrunal Thakur.

As the film will be Nani’s 30th film, it was officially announced in January 2023 with the working title Nani 30, and the official title was announced in July 2023. Principal photography began in February 2023. The film was shot sporadically in multiple installments in locations such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Coonoor, and was completed by the end of September 2023. The film has music by Hesham Abdul Wahab, cinematography by Sanu Varghese and editing by Praveen Anthony.

On January 1, 2023, Vaira Entertainment announced its first production film, with cast members Nani and Mrunal Thakur, debutant director Shoryuk, music and background composer Hesham Abdul Wahab, cinematographer Sanu Varghese, editor Praveen Anthony and art director Jyotish Shankar as crew members. The film was tentatively titled Nani 30. It will be Thakur’s second Telugu film after Sita Ramam (2022). In late March, it was announced that Angad Bedi would join the cast of his first Telugu film. In late April, Shruti Haasan was reported to be joining the cast. On July 13, the title Hi Nanna was announced. Nani reportedly received 22 million rupees (US$2.6 million) as compensation.

Hi Papa Movie Story

Six-year-old Mahi lives in Mumbai with her father, grandfather and dog Pluto. Mahi has cystic fibrosis and her single father Viraj does all he can to pamper her and take care of her health while pursuing a successful career as a fashion photographer. But when Mahi expresses curiosity about her missing mother, Viraj avoids the topic. Eventually, Mahi becomes upset when her father breaks his promise and refuses to tell her about her mother, and she runs away from home with Pluto.

Mahi and Pluto meet a woman named Yashna who saves them from a road accident. At Mahi’s request, Yashna invites Viraj to a restaurant, where she and Mahi force Viraj to tell her a story about the girl’s mother, “Varsha.” To help Mahi relate to her father’s story, Yashna suggests that he introduce himself to the child as Varsha.

hi papa is a gem of a film that pleasantly surprised me. It felt like the film ended too quickly and I sat in my seat with tears in my eyes, not wanting to leave the theater. My limited knowledge of filmmaking cannot overshadow my gratitude to the brilliant minds behind this work. I thank the author for crafting a captivating story with numerous twists and surprises, the director for his brilliant direction and the script that enthralled me.

Kudos to the producers for daring to invest in a story that deviates from the current trend of intense battles and mass appeal. It’s a refreshing departure that deserves recognition. Special thanks to the costume designer and art director for their meticulous work, which added an extra layer to the visual experience.
