IB71 is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language spy thriller film written and directed by Sankalp Reddy, based on the 1971 Indian Airlines hijacking. It stars Vidyut Jamwal, Vishal Jethwa, and Faizan Khan, with Anupam Kher, Ashwath Bhatt, Danny Surat, and Subrat Joshi in the cast.
IB71 is Jamwal’s first film as a producer, and was released on May 12, 2023 to mixed reviews from critics.Principal photography began in Mumbai in January 2022. In March 2022, Kher joined the shoot.The film’s music has been composed by Vikram Montrose and background music is by Prashanth R Vihari.

In 1971, the Intelligence Bureau received critical information about an imminent attack on India by Pakistan and China within ten days. With limited time and resources, IB agent Dev Jammwal briefed his superior N.S. Avasthi that the only plan to deal with this threat was to implement an air blockade.
This was intended to block India’s access to Pakistani airspace and highlight the violation of the Tashkent Agreement, which envisaged Kashmiri separatists hijacking Indian aircraft and landing them on Pakistani territory. The government initially dismissed this as an unlikely plan, but eventually realised its possibility and agreed to carry out a meticulously planned operation.
IB 71 Movie Review
This film is a gem. You will actually have to keep your eyes on the screen as there are plot twists till the very end. Yes, this is a film where each side tries to outwit the other at every step of the film so there will be nerve-wracking scenes till the very end. Vidyut Jamwal, Anupam Kher, Vishal Jethwa and the whole cast were fantastic.
Everyone’s role in this film was very important and they played their roles really well. The most surprising thing is that there was no unnecessary boasting about this film. To sum up, the film is highly recommended and a must watch. I am eagerly awaiting its OTT release.
