Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips and co-written by Scott Silver. It is a sequel to Joker (2019), loosely based on the DC Comics character. Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the Joker, with Lady Gaga starring as his lover Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz reprises her role from the previous film, with Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener also joining the cast. The film is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios in association with Joint Effort.
Joker was conceived as a standalone film, but Warner Bros. intended for it to launch a DC Black film series. Phillips has expressed interest in a sequel, but has confirmed that there are no plans for a sequel to Joker. Development on the sequel began in June 2022, with Gaga and Beatz joining later that year. Principal photography took place from December 2022 to April 2023 in Los Angeles, New York City, and Belleville, New Jersey.
