Nobody Wants This is an American romantic comedy television series created by Erin Foster and starring Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justin Lupe, and Timothy Simons. The series revolves around an unusual relationship between an outspoken, agnostic woman and an unconventional Jewish rabbi. The series premiered on Netflix on September 26, 2024.
On March 1, 2023, it was announced that Netflix had greenlit a comedy series created by Erin Foster and loosely based on Foster’s real-life experiences. It was also announced that Kristen Bell would star in the series, and Steven Levitan would co-executive produce the series alongside Foster and Bell.On May 15, 2024, the series was given the title Nobody Wants This and a Netflix release date of September 26, 2024.
The series is executive produced by Erin Foster, Kristen Bell, Steven Levitan, Craig DiGregorio, Sara Foster, Daniel Stokdyk, Ollie Obst, and Josh Lieberman for 3 Arts Entertainment. Production companies involved with the series include Steven Levitan Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and 20th Television.
When the series was first announced in March 2023, it was revealed that Bell would star in the series. In April 2023, it was announced that Adam Brody would star in the series as Noah, and that Bell’s character would be named Joan. In January 2024, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons were announced to join the main cast as Morgan and Sasha, with Jackie Torn, Michael Hitchcock, Paul Ben-Victor, Shelley Cora, Shiloh Bearman, Stephanie Faracy, Tania Raymonde and Tovah Feldshuh joining the cast as Morgan and Sasha. Recurring cast members were added. In May 2024, it was announced that Emily Alook would replace Tania Raymonde as Rebecca.
Nobody Wants This Story
Joan, played by Bell, seems to make a living doing a sex and relationships podcast with her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe), but she plays the bad girl and is more cynical than you. Joan, who is not religious at all, meets Noah, played by Brody, who is devout, at a dinner party. Noah is a serious, soulful and very caring guy who happens to be a rabbi. (Sometimes he is also referred to as the hot rabbi, recalling the hot priest played by Andrew Scott in Fleabag.)
As everyone else on the show loudly and persistently tells them, they are completely wrong for each other (hence the title). Morgan, who frequently dates herself, is against Noah because she is afraid of losing her sister, not to mention Noah being one step ahead of her. To further complicate matters, Morgan is convinced that if Joan were happy, her podcast would be ruined.

the cast, the writing, the acting, the “chemistry”, the soundtrack. I’m shocked the season is over and I wish I hadn’t watched it in one night. I laughed, I cried…I didn’t even pick up my phone for the entire 5 hours or so I spent watching this show. That never happens! I always pick up my phone in the middle of a series or movie. I laughed, I cried, I was heartbroken…I’m glad I made it. I’m glad they cast exactly the right people and I’m glad the script was written exactly the way it was written.
