Five years after the Haseen Dilruba incident, Rani lives in Agra and runs a beauty parlour, while Rishu now works as a delivery boy, under the alias Ravi, with a prosthetic arm. They live separately to avoid detection, but keep in touch over the phone and plan to flee to Thailand. Rani’s landlady, a doctor named Abhimanyu, shows romantic interest in her but she does not reciprocate, while Rishu’s landlady Poonam makes explicit advances on him, which he too rejects.
A.C.P Kishore Rawat and Senior Inspector Manav Shukla, now in Agra, visit Rani and reveal that they know she and Rishu are the culprits for Neel’s murder, having read the book that sparked the cover-up. Neel’s uncle, Mritunjay “Monty” Paswan, is heading the investigation and is determined to prove Rani and Rishu guilty. Monty quickly arrests Rishu’s travel agent and foils his escape plans. In a panic, Rani decides to marry Abhimanyu to divert suspicion, to which Rishu reluctantly agrees.
