Taali: Bajwaungi Nahi, Bajwaungi is a Hindi biographical drama series directed by Ravi Jadhav and released on JioCinema in 2023. It stars Sushmita Sen as transgender activist Shri Gauri Sawant.
The series highlights the key moments and struggles of Mumbai-based transgender activist Gauri Sawant’s life. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV wrote: “The details of Gauri Sawant’s story are in the public domain. A retelling does not seem unnecessary as Taali’s story will help deepen our knowledge of the ambitions of the third gender and debunk the myths that have prevented them from receiving the respect they deserve as citizens of a free country.”

Taali Story
We follow Gauri through flashbacks as she unfolds her linear memory in the form of a TED Talk-inspired chapter-by-chapter memento in an interview with a stereotypical white journalist named Amanda (Maya Rechal McManus). She reveals that she was bullied, initially by an effeminate schoolboy named Ganesh (played by Krutika Rao), for wanting to be a mother when she grows up. Ganesh’s strict and conservative father (Nandu Madhav) is a police inspector who even takes Ganesh to a sex clinic to prescribe hormones. After a while, the decision to run away from home becomes her only way out.
