The Little Prince is a 2015 French animated fantasy adventure comedy-drama film directed by Mark Osborne and based on the novel of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1943. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Bud Cort, Marion Cotillard, Benicio del Toro, James Franco, Ricky Gervais, Paul Giamatti, Riley Osborne, Albert Brooks, and Mackenzie Foy. It is the first film adaptation of The Little Prince as a feature-length animated film.

The film uses stop-motion animation to tell the story of the book, which is woven into an animated framework in which a young girl, who has just met the book’s now-elderly narrator, tells the story of her encounter with the Little Prince in the Sahara Desert. “The film’s animation was produced by ON Animation Studios and Mikros Image.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival Out of Competition on May 22, 2015, and was subsequently released theatrically in France by Paramount Pictures on July 29, 2015, and in Italy by Lucky Red on January 1, 2016. The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on March 18, 2016, before budget cuts led to the release being cancelled. Netflix subsequently acquired distribution rights for the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and it was released on August 5, 2016. The film received positive reviews and was praised for its animation style and respect for the source material. It grossed $97.6 million on a budget of €75 million, making it the most successful French animated film of all time overseas.

On October 14, 2010, Mark Osborne, co-director of Kung Fu Panda and creator of More, was hired to direct The Little Prince, based on the 1943 novel of the same name. Irena Brignoul (author of The Boxtrolls) and Bob Persichetti wrote the screenplay based on a story conceived by Mark Osborne. Aton Soumache, Alexis Vonnave, and Dimitri Rassam produced the film on a budget of $70–80 million for release in 2015.

The film has a plot not found in the novel, in which a high school girl discovers the Little Prince through her reclusive older neighbor. After a study by the Geena Davis Institute for Media and Gender Studies revealed gender disparities among animated characters, Mark Osborne decided to make the film’s heroine a girl. According to Osborne, she represents “the adult spirit. Animation has always been for boys.” “The tides seem to be turning at this point, but these things don’t happen overnight. These movies take years to make, and when I first pushed for a girl as the lead character, it was considered very groundbreaking,” Osborne recalled in April 2015.

The Little Prince Movie Story

A young mother moves to a new area and makes a life plan for her daughter, enrolling her in the prestigious Worth Academy, leaving her no time to play or make friends. However, the girl is distracted by an elderly neighbor, a retired pilot, who tells her the story of “The Little Prince”, a boy she supposedly met after making an emergency landing in the Sahara Desert. When the two met, the boy said he needed a sheep. The prince couldn’t draw, so the pilot drew him a box with a sheep in it, which satisfied the Little Prince, and the two became friends.

The Little Prince’s home is “Asteroid B-612”, covered with baobab sprouts. After removing the sprout, the Little Prince discovered a rose, which he nurtured and cultivated. Even though she became his girlfriend, she was self-centered. They broke up because they were both too young to know how to love each other. The Little Prince left the asteroid and began his journey. During his journey, he meets adults from other asteroids, including a king, a conceited man, and a wealthy businessman. The Little Prince reaches Earth, where he makes friends with a red fox, who then says goodbye to the Little Prince and advises him to always see with his mind’s eye. The pilot gives the girl a stuffed fox and says that he will soon leave to look for the Little Prince.

The Little Prince Movie Review

This is perhaps the most incredibly inspiring film that modern young parents can watch. It is about entering and leaving modern society. He is a breath of fresh air that we all want in a world full of values, achievements, recognition and approval. He teaches modern morality that should be clarified and entrenched throughout Western society. The Little Prince is a modern analysis of the limitations of the modern motives of capital. This is not a question of greed or evil, but rather another affliction of our own ideology and fetishization of the “good life” or the “successful life.” It mocks us, and then loves us.

It asks us to look deep in the mirror and find the good life. My only hope is that his message will grow like the baobab tree, and real change will occur. And it features CGI that is art in itself, with the texture and feel of a library where you choose your first book. As your message grows and your metaphors blossom, you too can grow and see if you can use your imagination to smell the digital flowers.
