Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu  Movie Tamilyogi

is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language neo-noir gangster film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and written by B. Jeyamohan. It is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh. The film stars Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani in leading roles, with Radhika Sarathkumar, Neeraj Madhav and Siddique in supporting roles. The film marked the Tamil debut of Idnani and Madhav. The film revolves around Muthuviran (Silambarasan), who travels from Thoothukudi to Mumbai in search of a better life and falls into the underworld.

Silambarasan and Menon were initially working on a romantic film called Nadigalile Neeladumu Sriyan under Ganesh, but as the former insisted on a more earthy script, they came up with a different plot based on Jeyamohan’s novel and the film was officially announced. Principal photography began in August 2021 and production on the film, shot in Tiruchendur, Chennai and Mumbai, was completed in April 2022. The film’s music and soundtrack are by A. R. Rahman, Cinematography: Siddhartha Nuni.

Muthuviran is a bachelor’s student from Naduvakurichi village in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, who spends his days plucking thorns in the sun. When the field where he works caught fire, the owner threatened to call the police. His mother, Rachumi, found out about Muthu’s aggressive and impulsive behaviour

when he threatened to kill the owner with a sickle. Fearing for Muthu’s life, Rachumi takes Muthu and his sister, Gomachi, to her uncle, Chellumadurai, so that he can work elsewhere. Chellumadurai arranges Muthu’s works in Chembur, Mumbai. After the phone conversation, Chellumadurai panics and gives a letter to Muthu to send as soon as possible.

With A. R. Rahman songs playing as background music it really clicked. The background music adds interest. Neeraj Madhav, well done and welcome to looks promising and is much better than what he usually shows in Mollywood. The villains are not that convincing. Even Siddiq was more of a novice than an experienced gangster…GVM may have more real gangsters than film gangsters, overall a good experience but not the best!
