Aranmanai 4 is a 2024 Indian Tamil horror film directed by Sundar C. It was produced by Avni Cinemax and Benzz Media (P) Ltd. The film stars Sundar in the lead role and leads an ensemble cast that also includes Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashi Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, Santosh Pratap, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Delhi Ganesh. The film was partially remade in Telugu as Baak, with Vennela Kishore and Srinivasa Reddy replacing Yogi Babu and VTV Ganesh respectively. It is the fourth part of the Aranmanai film series. Hip Hop’s Tamizha composed music, while E. Krishnasamy and Fenny Oliver handled cinematography and editing, respectively.

Aranmanai 4 was released in theatres on 3 May 2024 and received mixed reviews from critics. The film grossed over Rs 1000 crore against a budget of Rs 40 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the series and one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2024.

In mid-January 2023, Vijay Sethupathi was cast in the lead role in the fourth installment of director Sundar C.’s Aranmanai film series. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Sethupathi dropped out, and Sundar took over the lead role. In late March 2023, Raasi Khanna and Tamannaah Bhatia were chosen as the lead actresses. Santosh Pratap played a key role alongside Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Delhi Ganesh, Rajendran and Singampuli. In the partially remade Telugu version, Vennela Kishore and Srinivasa Reddy were cast in place of Yogi Babu and VTV Ganesh. Sundar also reunited with musical duo Hip Hop Tamizha for the project.

Principal photography began in March 2023 and was completed by mid-September.The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted Aranmanai 4 U/A certificate with one change, resulting in a running time of 147.22 minutes. In contrast, Baak received a U/A certificate with three modifications and a validity period of 150.07 minutes.

Aranmanai 4 Movie Story

A priest and his daughter from Assam travel in a boat to a temple during a festival. When the daughter is injured and her blood flows into the river, a shape-shifting demon, Bark, is released. Bark kills the daughter and takes her form. The priest then traps Bark’s soul in a vessel and forces him to take the daughter’s place forever for his wife. The scene shifts to the village where Selvi and her husband Santosh live with their children Sakthi and Saravanan Jr. Santosh dies of a heart attack in the forest, and Selvi appears to have hanged herself in a well. Sakthi witnesses her mother’s death and goes into a coma. Selvi’s brother, Saravanan, a lawyer, learns of the death and visits the grieving children along with their aunt. In the village, Maya, the Zamindar’s granddaughter and a doctor, is supposed to look after Sakthi. Soon they experience paranormal activity in the house.

This is the best of the entire Aranmanai series…
The horror scenes were great and the comedy scenes were very funny.
I was mesmerized by Tamannaah’s acting.
She brought tears to my eyes with her amazing performance as a loving mother who would do anything to save her children’s lives, sacrifice her own life for them and protect them even after their death. I liked her before but Aranmanai 4 made me a fan. The comedy scenes were perfectly placed with a slight contrast to the high tension and emotional scenes.
