Kavya Ganeshan, a dentist, and Anirudh “Ani” Banerjee, a businessman, have been married for 12 years. They had a love marriage but their marriage fell apart when they stopped enjoying getting along. They have also had extramarital affairs over the years. Kavya is dating Vikram, a successful photographer who moved to Mumbai from New York for her. Anirudh is dating Nora, a struggling theatre artist. Kavya and Anirudh continue to live together but have no energy to ask for a divorce. One day, Kavya’s grandfather dies of old age.
Anirudh insists that they go with her to Ooty for the funeral. Kavya and her family are estranged after she eloped with Anirudh, bringing shame to the respected Ganeshan family. The family waits for Karthik, a family friend who was very close to her grandfather, to arrive from Los Angeles to perform the final rites in his presence. There are constant arguments between Kavya and her father.
